After installing R5 beta 4, just finished removing the Album Artist tag from all my compilations. This, and checking the flag to "Fill missing Album Artist tags from Artist or Compilation tags" has completely solved my issue - many thanks for the response and solution.

Where is this flag "Fill missing Album Artist tags from Artist or Compilation tags" in the Asset R5.2 beta - I do not see it under advanced settings?

I am running Asset v4.7 on QNAP, I have a problem with around 80 compilations out of a total of about 650 compilations not displaying the album artist as "Various Artists" in the Album view.

If the album artist tag for each track in one of the problem compilations is left blank, the compilation appears in the album view as 1 album but the album artist is blank in the Naim app (on iPad). In the Kinsky app (on iPad) and in the Asset Control software (on Windows 7 laptop) album artist is shown as "Unknown Artist". If the value in the album artist field is set to the same value as is in the artist field for each track in the compilation, the album appears in the album view several times, once for each track artist.

Selecting the album to show individual tracks within shows each track title and track artist correctly, regardless of whether album artist is populated
with the value in the artist field or left blank. Compilation tag is set to "1" on every track of each compilation.

The problem only occurs where an artist appears on more than one track on the compilation, and if each track artist that appears more than once on the problem compilation is renamed so that each track artist on the compilation is unique, the album artist is correctly shown as "Various Artists" in the Album view.

What is puzzling me is that I have many compilations that have the same artist on more than one track on the compilation that do correctly show the album artist as "Various Artists" ?

Can anyone offer any ideas why the behaviour of album artist on compilations where an artist appears on more than one track on the compilation seems to be inconsistent ?
