If you want to avoid turning on the laptop every time, a small NAS that can run Asset UPnP would be a good solution. Something from Synology or QNAP should work well, provided the specific model supports the Asset software. You can keep your music library on the NAS and leave it running, so your Linn streamer can access the music whenever you want. I’d also check Asset’s supported platforms before buying, as compatibility can vary between NAS models.

A NAS is definitely the way to go, although with current high prices for storage it won't be cheap. They are relatively low power devices and the advantage is you can leave it running 24/7 so multimedia is always available to any streaming device that supports networked file sharing. I use a QNAP TS-264 with a couple of 6GB Seagate Ironwolf hard drives specifically manufactured for NAS use.
I use it in conjunction with a few different streaming devices. It serves my all of my Bluesound and WiiM devices, Bluesound as a network share and WiiM via Asset uPnP which is installed on the NAS, it all works faultlessly. A NAS is actually a very powerful unit, I also run Home Assistant and Lyrion Music Server (LMS) in containers and it's very stable. I can recommend the QNAP running Asset and for storing all of your media, I've got around 4000 albums stored on mine.Comment
