FLAC files show incorrect cover art in Asset UPnP

My self‑edited .flac files appear in Asset UPnP with a different cover than the one I embedded. This does not happen with my .mp3 files. How is this possible, and which setting do I need to change to fix it?

You might have a folder.jpg file (sometimes they can be hidden).

Also check those flac files do not have two cover arts embedded.

I edited the files using Mp3tag and saved the cover art as .jpg files. Each FLAC file has exactly one embedded cover image — never two. Interestingly, Asset UPnP doesn’t display the single cover I embedded. Instead, it shows the LP cover that includes the track number.

The art must be present somewhere. If you have dBpoweramp you can right click on all the files for an album >> dBpoweramp >> Edit ID Tags

That uses the same tag reader as Asset.

Not sure what this means, "includes the track number"?

If you have Windows Media Player on your machine and it has access to your music folder (common if you are using the typical Windows "Music" location) it will add hidden system files including album art that you normally cannot see. In your Windows folder settings, make sure both hidden files and system files are checked and you will be able to confirm this.

For what it is worth, WMP is a very invasive program and tends to make unexpected and unintended changes to music files. If you do not use it (I don't recommend it) then it is best to completely disable it in the Windows setup.

I have an external hard drive with music files in .flac and .mp3 formats. I edit all files with Mp3tag (cover, album name, artist, title, year, genre, etc.). Only the .flac files have this issue: Asset UPnP does not use the embedded .jpg cover but instead shows the album cover. I don’t use dBpoweramp or Windows Media Player — I only use Foobar2000.

              >instead shows the album cover

Art is based on albums not individual files.

These are my results from testing AssetUPnP 2025-03-12 (on Windows):

AssetUPnP supports track and album level artwork:
                • Album artwork: Embedded artwork from the first track of an album > external artwork from the folder of the first track > No artwork
                • Track artwork: Embedded artwork > Album artwork > No artwork

My external artwork was named folder.jpg and artwork was embedded as FRONT (type 3).
