How to play streamed files?

Forgive the extreme newbie question, but I'm wondering if it's possible to use Asset UPnP to stream audio from my desktop PC at home and listen to it on my laptop at a hotel through a standard web browser like Firefox or Chrome. And if not Asset UPnP, is there any audio streaming software that does? Thank you.

UPnP is not geared to stream over the internet really, only the home network.
