    Renderer, Kazoo vs. Kinsky?????

My system uses 3 LINN DS. I have been using Asset with Kinsky as I use only Android devices and Windows. Yesterday LINN released Kazoo for both Windows and Android devices. What is your experience with Kinsky versus Kazoo? Which one is better and what are the practical differences?

    Thank you for your help.

    Best regards,
    Tom

    Re: Renderer, Kazoo vs. Kinsky?????

Kazoo has had a very long gestation. It was originally designed across a platform that could be used by different systems (PC, MAC, iPad, iPhone). Unfortunately, there have been quite a few teething problems with that implementation, and now they've reverted to discrete platforms. That said, Kazoo is getting better. Kazoo has now got direct access to Qobuz and Tidal, if these are important to you, so you don't have to use Songcast via native apps. As of the last release, you also have the option of list and tile view on a portable device, which you didn't get with Kinsky.

Kazoo server is designed to be quite simple and doesn't have the customisable features that Asset has. Therefore you have to live with the way the system sorts and displays your collection. Personally, I don't like the way Kazoo displays the album collection. It displays it by Artist, therefore you would find Dark Side Of The Moon listed under "P" along with all Pink Floyd's other albums. This is apparently the way iTunes sorts a collection, and so someone with that experience wouldn't find it a problem.

I use Kazoo client with Asset, and find it to be the best of both worlds.
