AppleTV client that can play multichannel Flac?

I'm loving Asset for serving up two channel content to my Sonos system. Who knows why, but Sonos doesn't like lots of other DLNA servers (and Sonos itself still has the dumb library size limits from 20 years ago).

I've got a batch of multichannel FLAC files that (of course) cannot be played by in multichannel with the Sonos devices. So to play back those multichannel Flac files (served up by Asset) I have been hunting around for a client app for my AppleTV.

Seemed like VLC might be the perfect solution, but for some reason, it converts the multichannel Flac files into two channel, down mixing everything.

I presume there is no setting in Asset to prevent that (asset just serves things up if the client can handle it right?). I couldn't find any setting in the VLC app on the ATV to preserve the multichannel nature of the Flac files.

So I'm wondering whether any other asset users are serving up multichannel Flac files to an ATV4K and, if so, what client app (or server settings?) are they using?

My notifications didn't work and I'm just seeing this now.

I don't think I have set FLAC to be just 2 channel.

But to be honest I'm not sure where I would do that. Under AUDIO FORMATS in Setup, everything (including FLAC) is set to "as is" but nothing specifically mentions the number of channels.

        Audio Format Streaming

Set flac to 'As Wav' to enable Asset to work on the audio, and set the maximum channels to 2

          Thanks for the tip. But:

If I want multi channel Flac to play back as multi channel audio, shouldn't I *not* set the max channels to 2?

You said the Sonos was 2 channel, this will allow it to play them direct.
