All My greatest hits in one large Album

    Hi,
I have been using asset premium for windows for a few very happy years now but I had to retire my Windows server and bought a Qnap Ts251 and copied my music across, I purchased asset premium for Qnap and everything seemed fine until I noticed that all " Greatest Hits" albums are in one large album with Billy Idol as the Greatest Hits artwork, I looked at the settings on my old asset windows server and dont see any obvious setting changes but there is an un familiar and expanded browsing tree that I am loathe to touch. Can anyone please help me restore how asset sorted albums as in the older version I use with windows server. If I browse by Artist the Greatest Hits albums are in their correct containers.
I am sure there may be other small things i havent noticed yet.

    Regards

Sounds like a potential bug, what audio format are your tracks saved as?

They would be Flac, although there may be a few Wav albums although I don't think any Wav exist in the greatest hits..
I use a Linn CP kazoo or Kinsky and sometimes songbooklite or lumin, just in case there is any relevance

Hi, would I be correct in assuming that this bug will be fixed in the next release of asset for qnap?
Would this take weeks or months? I'm just wondering as I'm not using asset until this is sorted and don't want to be checking here every couple of days. It doesn't really bother me if it takes a while, just a rough guide as I have another media renderer that I can use in the mean time.

          To clarify the issue:

if you browse Album >> Greatest hits >> they are all listed together
but Artist >> Album >> is correct?

Please try toggling "Fill missing Album Artist tags from Artist or Compilation tags" in Asset configuration then waiting for rescan pass to finish. This was changed a few versions ago, you have to toggle the option to get the old behavior back.

Hi Peter, Thanks for the suggestion, however, unless I am stupid I dont see that Choice in my configuration page on Asset 4.6.1 for Qnap, Linux. Maybe there is another way to restore this.....

Hi, last night I was in my friends house where over Christmas I set up a Qnap for him and got him to purchase a premium version of asset, I can definetly confirm that his greatest hits albums behave like mine and are all dumped in one large album. I suppose this confirms that it is indeed a bug...

Hi , I notice that 4.6.3 is released for Qnap and I wonder is my problem fixed? Or do I wait for a later release.

                    Regards

                      (Sorry about slow reply.)
The option I am referring to was introduced in R4.6.3. Some versions before that expect your media to have "album artist" tags to show such albums correctly.

Thanks Peter, I will have a look at how I upgrade to the latest, I'm sure there is instructions somewhere on this site. If it works I will upgrade my friends, it's worse for him as asset is the only media renderer I loaded on his Qnap. I did read the thread where 4.6.3 was giving problems on certain Qnaps, although I think the two that I have , both TS 251 were exempt from troubles.
I will report back if problem is sorted.

                        Regards

Hi, I have had a quick look and I don't seem to see a way to upgrade my qnap premium 4.6.1 to 4.6.3, can anyone point me in the right direction please

Great news, Peters advice to toggle contributing artists worked a treat, brilliant. So it would seem that it's not a bug. I will sort my friends out this weekend.
