    Asset 2025 upgrade from R16

I've been using AssetUPnP for over a decade, predominantly streaming to my Arcam amps. My last upgrade was to R16, I believe in 2019.

I recently tried accessing Asset via an online AudioCast streamer and that was very problematic (TVersity etc was ok) . I therefore installed the trial Asset 2025, as i believed when i upgraded before, the folder etc Configuration settings were maintained.

They were NOT for some reason, and i given the time lapsed not really sure just what i had tweaked in Configuration other than the Source material folders.

I also thought that i streamed in 'Local (recommended)', but that doesn't work - with the Arcam Music Player directory showing --Empty-- despite thousands of albums and tracks recognized and apparently catalogued by Asset.

Things do work in 'Service' Mode, Including for AudioCast., with the same track and album count as 'Local'. Any thoughts as to why the 'recommended' Local doesn't work. And what maybe missing with Service?

Next, i thought i had Artist included in my R16 set-up, giving all the track names of a particular Artist - allowing easy comparison of various mixes / 'pressings' on different Album collections.
I have introduced the Artist Category in the configuration panel at the left, but it remains at the bottom of the tree in the panel and the Arcam Music Player display and i can't find a way of getting it 'up the tree' eg to the top. Any advice?

Finally, does anyone know if i can reinstall R16 after the 2025 trial ends, as i can't say I see any difference as far as the Arcam is concerned.

    Thanks in advance.

There was never an R16 version of Asset. Since your last upgrade was 2019, you probably had Asset R6 or R7.

To place your "Artist" container where you want it in the config browse tree: Mark/select an existing container where you want to insert "Artist", then click "Add new container", then select "before" or "after".

I've always used "Local Account (recommended)", so I don't know when the Service mode is required.

Many thanks for the reply, and for the 'how to' on the new container.

It was an R16 Family Pack that i bought. Indeed unsure of the 'taxonomy' of the Asset executables but now the label by year seems easiest to grasp!

If it was R6 then do you see any big advantage to upgrade to 2025? I don't seem to be able to see an Asset Version comparison.

It's for residential / local use to DLNA amplifiers (wired) and a few other wireless devices on the same network, controlled by smartphone.

Given that the upgrade is free Asset upgrades are free for life), it is probably worthwhile to upgrade. Some features have been improved, particularly the ability to listen to streaming Internet radio.

          Asset version changes 1.1 - 7.4

          Asset version changes 2023 ->

Many new features and fixes since R6 - among them unlimited multiple values and better, faster indexing.
