Asset on iMac only plays some of the library after install on a new computer

I'm trying to help a friend who bought a new iMac and uses it as a server with Asset to play music on a Linn Majik-DS (1st generation). His system worked fine until he bought the new iMac (I helped him setup the original system). His library is on external SSD. He is registered owner and that shows and Asset seems to find all of the albums. However, when he tries to play something he's finding something are "there" and play and something just don't play at all. The same issue occurs when we use a different external SSD with the same music on it as a target folder. I've checked to make sure the Energy settings on the iMac are not shutting down the SSD. And I made sure the Privacy & Security settings allow Asset to access the drive.
I've also tried to run Plex and Linn's KazooServer. KazooServer has been discontinued by Linn and won't run (though it runs just fine still on my Mac mini). Plex works and then he reports it stops working. This makes me think there might be some setting on his iMac that needs to be changed. Any thoughts?

No. Could it be some sort of port blocking?

Possibly something network related, such as a VPN being used (and all traffic being routed).
