Does Asset run on Windows Storage Server 2012 R2 Essentials?

I see from searching the forum that Asset seems to run on most Windows platforms. Can anyone advise me if it will run on Windows Storage Server 2012 R2 Essentials. I have been using a Windows 10 PC as a file server for my music files, running Asset and playing to a Naim NDX, but this is overkill. As I need a new file server for the home office, I thought "lets get a gadget and a business tool at the same time". I am looking at the Thecus W range of NAS devices as I can get them without drives and reuse the 6TB I have in the Windows PC. AssetNAS is another option but only have 2 drive bays and they all come with drives installed, so work out more expensive.

It can yes, install the Windows 7 version.

Thanks. I'll report how I get on with my NAS of choice as NAS compatibility seems to be a hot topic on the forum.
