    Asset UPNP & Starlink

Hi. I've been a long-time user of Asset, and love the simplicity of how it works with music. I recently moved to a new location where I have to use Starlink for my internet connection. I have been trying to configure Asset to work for remote streaming with no success. From what I have been able to figure out, it appears that Starlink uses CGNAT, which does not work with Asset. I have been able to get other things like remote connections to security cameras to work, so their must be a way to get remote access to work, but nothing I have tried has been successful so far. So I guess I'm pleading for a way to get Asset to work with CGNAT.

How were you accessing your server before switching to Starlink?

UPnP doesn't work across subnets so you'll need to use a VPN, but that depends on what control point you're using as the normal discovery process (SSDP) likely won't work.
Tailscale will work behind CGNAT but I think it'll relay all your traffic through their servers so you might need to look into their usage policy.

I was accessing my server with 8player from my iPhone. I just had to plug in the public IP address of my home PC and it worked. From what I understand, CGNAT shares a single IP address across several computers, so adressing that it directly does not work.

I just tried Tailscale. It worked perfectly! You will never know how much I missed being able to access my music from anywhere.

Did you forward a port on your router? That appears to be what 8player recommends which is really risky given UPnP is an unauthenticated protocol.

Correct, that's why you'll need to use a relay service like TailScale to connect to your network.
