    Skip-ahead Problem

SETUP: Using the current stable release of ASSET UPnP on Windows 10 64bit. My control point is BubbleUPnP on Pixel smartphone.

ISSUE: In the middle of playback intermittent occurrences of FLAC audio tracks abruptly skipping ahead to the next track. I have experienced this problem since December 2023.

ATTEMPTED FIX #1: Tried setting FLAC to "play as WAV". DID NOT WORK.

ATTEMPTED FIX #2: Installed MinimServer 2.2 Starter Edition. PROBLEM RESOLVED.

NOTES: Debug logging was enabled in ASSET. Multiple tracks were played. But the local debug log webpage remained blank. No log files could be found in the ASSET program folder.

DISCUSSION: According to at least two posts on this forum this skip-ahead problem has been known since 2018. There appears to be no known fix for it. The developer has, without explanation, recommended changing the stream format for FLAC files to WAV. But that does not work in my case.

Asset if set to 'As Is' just sends the file as requested. If one upnp server is playing and one is not have to make sure that both sending the same, if sending 'as wav' then would be sending twice the amount of data and if wifi not upto it it would skip.

To test if wifi bandwidth, set to 'as mp3', which will be a very small transfer.

I understand that sending a WAV file would use more bandwidth. I only brought that up because it was a suggestion you gave to another ASSET user who experienced a similar problem:

But I do have some good news to report. I switched to a different phone and a different pair of wireless earbuds. Still using ASSET as my server and android BubbleUPnP v4.4.9 as my controller. So far, after 3+ consecutive hours of audio playback I have NOT experienced any skip-ahead problems. The audio is playing problem free!

So the problem has to be with, most likely, my Pixel smartphone, or less likely, some sort of interference issue between my other headphones and the smartphone. I plan to keep experimenting to find the cause of the problem.
