I just wish this worked...... Why is it so difficult. I can see why frustrated folk turn to Apple products. Virtually no thinking required.

A little Googling found this info on the Synology forum. Maybe it will help?


For information on correcting the disappearing network drives find the help file "How to enable and disable SMBv1, SMBv2, and SMBv3 in Windows vista, windows Server 2008, windows 7, and Windows Server 2008 R2, Windows 8, and Windows Server 2012" Followed directions on how to enable or disable SMB protocols on the SMB client section.

Go to Windows System and select command prompt (run it as administrator)and type the sc.exe commands as listed on the page. Do one command at a time. Exit command prompt. Reboot computer. Network drive synology should be visible. Do not forget to create credentials to access NAS.

There are a bunch of suggestions that do not address the problem directly. I have tried them and found the only solution was as per article from Microsoft. PS WARNING: This is not the best solution to the problem but it works until Microsoft and Synology work together on a fix.

Networking issues are notoriously difficult to fix, as there are so many variables/protocols that have to be adhered to, for devices to work correctly.

Have you tried getting assistance from an IT specialist?

From experience, I can assure you Apple products also have issues when it comes to networking.
