Best NAS drive for use with Asset

Is someone able to recommend a good NAS drive that runs Asset to stream music?

I see that there is a version of Asset that runs on Qnap NAS drives. However, this brand is very expensive. Is there a cheaper alternative to Qnap that does the job as well or better?

I'm new to the whole streaming/NAS Drive/UPnP thing, so any advice is greatly appreciated.

QNAP have single drive models which are as cheap as any real NAS, however you can run asset on a Pi board and make your own nas.

I have read about the Raspberry Pi option.

I do already own a NAS drive, the Iomega Storcenter IX-2. I was under the impression that this was not powerful enough to run Asset by itself. With a Raspberry Pi doing the processing work, would I be able to use my current drive?

If so, how would I connect the Raspberry Pi to my NAS?
