Asset UPNP and Jriver MC 19

[smithster2010]

have had this problem for a while now -
Use Jriver Media Center 19 on windows 8.1 and Asset 5 running on win 7.
Connecting with DLNA / UPNP gives the message

there was a problem retrieving files from the selected DLNA server. Please ensure that the server you are conecting to supports search, and that it is running properly.
Your library may be incomplete until you correct the problem and reload the library.

The files don't play, and the library doesn't load properly.

The Asset is fine when accessed from BubbleUPNP from an android tablet.
I do remember having this working previously, but can't remember which versions that was using (I've upgraded a few times with asset and Jriver...)
Any hints or suggesstions for getting this to work?

If you could enable the debug log in asset (advanced configuration), then start j river, wait for it to show its error msg, then open the log and email us please.

thanks for the updates. Not sure if my last post got through, had quite a large copy/paste of debug, might have broken the post.

I've been playing for a few days with BETA 5.2:

Seems to work OK with Jriver 19, the library is loaded and accesses the files, but not all of them - about half approximately. Most albums are missing roughly a third to half of tracks. Those that appear are fine and play OK, and can be searched and smartlisted etc.

Also Bubble UPNP on my tablet seems to have broken random tracks and shuffle tracks - not sure if this is related to asset BETA 5.2, but only started with that installation.

Won't post the debug again, just in case.

Doesn't seem to be any common factor, files vary in bitrate and format (only use mp3, FLAC and some .m4a). I loaded the files directly across the network bypassing Asset - and they all load OK and play OK, but I'd rather not use this method.

What I think I'll try next is loading folders alphabetically into Asset 5.2 and seeing how Jriver handles that on each refresh (files on the server are in Artist alphabetically).
If there turns out to be a file limit on Jriver end whilst using UPNP/DLNA I'll be nearer to understanding this. I'll report back when I've played with it a bit more,

Attached pictures. Pics are a bit blurry, sorry.

From Bubble UPNP Library tab click on Random tracks - at the bottom - pic1.jpg / pic2.jpg
Select number of random tracks - pic3.jpg - OK
Usually this results in a list of random tracks being generated which you can then play by loading into the Playlist tab.
Now results in, well nothing happening, except the top left menu displays Random Tracks as an item - pic4.jpg
Which if clicked on drops down to give a list of:

Select Library...
Asset UPNP:Music
Random Tracks

Pic5.jpg


Also in Playing now tab, there's a "shuffle tracks" option, which does much the same as Random Tracks, except on the fly - this does nothing either. - pic6.jpg / pic7.jpg

Try going back to R5 full release to see if it is the beta which is causing.
