Subgenres and multiple genres

I am evaluating Asset and I see that it accepts multiple genres if you add them like this:

Genre=Rock
Genre=Instrumental

But how can I add subgenres? Let's say that I want to add "Hard Rock" as a subgenre to "Rock" while keeping the multiple genres?

I have only FLAC in my collection.

There is also the Style tag which is indexed.

I've looked around in the advanced settings and to me it looks like Style acts exactly like Genre, i.e. they are on the same "level" and you can't link Style to Genre, hence no subgenre. Is this right?

But I see that you can add your own containers in the Browse Tree, which looks very interesting. I tried to create a custom container/tag to behave exactly like Genre and Style. I named it "Purchased" and added "Artist/Album" and "Album" and ticked "No Track Listing" where appropriate, exactly as with Genre and Style, but it doesn't do the trick. When I browse it acts as a regular folder only and lists every album in it, disregarding the values I set in the "Purchased" tag. Are there additional settings that I missed?

Purchased would not be indexed, so you are better taking over Style to do as you want.

OK, I don't quite understand what you mean - maybe it got confusing when I added a different topic in my 2nd post. I'll ask specific questions instead:

1) Is there ANY way to make a subgenre which is linked to a genre? Can Style act as a subgenre to Genre? Meaning: Go to Genre, first select Rock, and then select the subgenre Hard Rock?

2) Could you explain what "indexed" means in the context of Asset?

3) What is the purpose of the add containers feature in the Browse Tree if they aren't indexed? What can I use them for?

1) Yes have the tree: Genre >> Style >> Artist >> Album

and have Rock in Genre and the different types of Rock in Style

2) Means read and stored in database

3) You can manually edit the index list, however it is not easy to do.

Thanks! Now I understand better. Still some things to solve though:

1) Multiple genres seem to conflict with Style (used as subgenre). If an album has genres "Soundtrack" and "Rock", and the style is "Hard Rock" - then "Hard Rock" will appear under both genres. Any way to have "Hard Rock" appear under "Rock" only?

2) The albums with a Style will only show up under that Style. So you have to select Rock > Hard Rock to see the album. Any way to have the Style albums to show up in two places = directly under the genre + under the style?

3) The problem in 2) gets even bigger if problem 1) cannot be solved. In the genre "Soundtrack" you will end up with lots of styles. So you'd have to browse the various styles instead of having a listing of all your soundtracks. Same thing happens with any multiple genre of course (and the style is most often logical only to one of the genres).

You are possibly best not having sub-genres, just have genre as the Hard Rock; Rock then you can browse as you require.

Can I solve problem 1 or 2 or both by manually editing the index list?

Is the index stored in AssetUPnPDefinedBrowseTreev4.txt ?

Is this the only index that I can/should edit for this purpose?

OK, maybe I'll cope with it.

After adding Style as subgenre, I now have 2 trees:

Genre >> Artist/Album >> Album (default)
Genre >> Style >> Artist/Album >> Album (created by me)

Should I delete the default one? Is there a conflict?

It should be ok to have both.
