Missing Albums in Asset on Mac

    Hi All,

First post and I apologize for starting a new thread. I did search several times, with no luck in finding a related topic.

I've recently installed the Asset trial on my iMac. It apparently finds 177 albums in the library. iTunes shows that I actually have 194. I noticed that for one group, Delerium, only two of the three albums present in the same artist folder in the iTunes music library show up in Asset. Playback and elyric are both able to find and display all the iTunes albums. I have looked at the naming of the songs, and I can find no difference between any of the three albums, yet Asset can only find two of the three. Apparently there are 16 other albums missing as well.

I know that metadata is a strange beast, but this is disappointing. If the other UPnP servers can find all the music, I must assume that Asset is the problem here.

    Anybody else having this issue?

27" iMac, 3.2 ghz Haswell, Mavericks latest version, Naim UnitiQute v1 with original firmware (so not updated). nStream on iPhone 4S & iPad2.

    Thanks,

    Damon

If you look through Advanced Search >> File and Folder browsing

    you can see the album?

Do your files have any Albumsort tag? if they do they might be showing somewhere else (as determined by the sort tag).

      Thanks Spoon,

I assume 'Advanced Search' is in Asset. I'll also check for Album sort tags, but I think I've done a basic look at the metadata for this album. As I say, it is in the same artist folder as the other two albums, was imported/ ripped in the same way, using the same settings in iTunes, and other servers can find this album. Asset is missing the album and all the songs in it, so somehow it has gone AWOL for Asset.

Otherwise Asset does seem to perform very well, and is the first and fastest of my three UPnP server software choices to pop up on my iPhone.

          Spoon,

I appreciate that you are following this thread, but I do not understand this reply.

In the Asset UPnP Configuration window, I can see 'Advanced Search' as a hierarchal item in the Browse Tree window, but I don't see anywhere that would allow me to put in the name of an artist or album.

If I go to the Audio Library window, and use the 'add folder' button/ bar and navigate to this specific album, and then restart Asset, it still does not show up in n-Stream. I even deleted the album and re-imported it. No luck.

You would use your control point to browse this item, nothing to do in the configuration section of Asset.

Re: Missing Albums in Asset on Mac

I'm not sure what 'control point' is, but I can tell you this:

The album is one of three individual albums by Delerium. The 'missing' album is their first, from 1998, and it is called 'Karma'.
Each album shows up as an individual folder, in the 'Delerium' folder in user>music>iTunes>iTunes Music>Miusic> Delerium.
Each album shows up in iTunes when using the album view or Artist view, all of the songs show up in iTunes when the column search is on Songs.
All three albums show up on my iPhone when I use Playback as the UPnP server.
All three albums show up on my iPhone when I use eLyric as the UPnP server.
All three albums show up on the front display of the Naim UnitiQute when I use the Naim remote to select an album.
The numbering of the songs in the album folder in the artist folder appears to be identical to every other song and album.
I have compared the 'info' fields in iTunes of each song in the 'missing' album to that of the other albums that do show up. There is no difference as far as I can tell. It is not part of a compilation, it is not disc 1 of some other number.

I accept that there must be something about this album that gives Asset a problem, but it is clear that Asset has this problem whereas other UPnP servers do not. The Album is on my computer and it is in iTunes. Asset cannot find the album or any of the songs on it.

I like Asset and I am more than willing to purchase it. However, like my Naim equipment, it seems finicky.

Would it help if I were to send you one or two tracks to see if they import for you?

I'll buy you the album, if that helps.

              Damon

The control point is what you use to browse the collection, on the Naim it might be nserve on the ipad. If you go to the root menu, there is an Advanced Search item you can browse into.

OK. 'control point' is not something I've seen or heard of on Mac or Windows, and root menu is sounding a bit MS-DOS to me. No matter; the album is in iTunes, and whatever tagging issues may be a factor, Asset cannot find the album or any of the songs.

                  Thanks for your time anyway.

nStream is the control point, the root menu is:

                    Code:
                    Artist / Album
                    Album
                    Title
                    Composer
                    Genre
                    Style
                    Dynamic Browsing
                    Internet Radio [TuneIn Radio]
                    Playlists

                      Spoon,

Thanks for the menu above. If I select Asset as the UPnP server on my iPhone or iPad, I can do the navigation, beginning with Artist or Album or Song. The album 'Karma' by Delerium does not show up anywhere, nor any of the songs on that album.

I wish I could figure out what it is about this album that is not recognized by Asset; it is recognized by Playback and eLyric. I've checked the tagging multiple times and I'm still stumped. It is an older CD, made in 1997, though my copy is only about two years old. It is possible, I suppose, that there is some metadata that is different or missing simply because of digital technology of that era.
