Adding Custom ID does not work as described

    Dear Spoon:
I have read the instructions as referred to in the "sticky" section of how to add a custom ID to the database.

While being not a literate to Win7, I have followed your instructions of how to do so but I did not come to a result. As you'll see from the following picture, I am obviously missing a file from where I can take the corresponding address to alocate the main database file. I am using a Windows 7 Ultimate system.

I'd like to add a numeric value field to add the "DR" values for audiophile, high-quality CDs to my database. Are you able to let me know what I am doing wrong by not coming to a result by simply following your suggested instructions - Thank you indeed for your time for an extra explanation

    Regards, Dirk

PS: Why not providing such a field as default for the next update planned? As Dynamic Music simply sounds better, here's a link to the Dynamic Range issue, detailled in Wiki. There is also a strong support here by the periodical "Stereo"...

You are looking in Registry editor, instead you should look in Windows File Explorer.

      OK, got it.
However, suggest that you may consider to "optimize" the advise in the "sticky note" section to avoid future confusion with others too.
      Regards, Dirk

        Hello Spoon

I don't understand your advice to Senator1962. I can't find any text file that is editable under ...illustrate\dbpoweramb.

What I'm planning to do: I'm having a large collection of World Music and have cataloged it under "genre" World. In addition I would like to cataloged the collection also under the "genre" World/Region with a custom ID Tag called "region".

How can I do it? Thanks for your help.

            GREAT,GREAT,GREAT..... It works fine!!!!

            Thanks

              Hi!
I'm runing asset 4.1 on WHS 2011. I've tried to add my custom fields (adding by dpa) according to the thread 'Adding Custom ID Tags to Asset'.
I've find a mediadatabasefieldsV4.txt in and write in the additional inputs. But there are no changes in the browse tree.

What have I to do else?
              Thank you!

You would also have to add to the browse tree.

                  Hi Spoon,
sorry , I forgot to say: There are no additional custom fields in the browse tree to choice from, so I can't add something.
Thanks for any futher help :smile2:.

You can type anything you want in to that element box, it does not have to already exist.
