Installing v4 on WHS v1 Power Pack 3

    Hello,

I have followed the instructions and copied the .msi into software on my assetnas running WHS v1 Power Pack 3.

Running file delivers an Error Code 1603 repeatedly.

    Any advice?

Try clearing your internet cache and redownloading (you might only have part of the install), also install from c:\installs through remote desktop on the assetnas.

      Hello,

I have downloaded twice and each time have a size on disk on 14.4 MB (15,192,064 bytes) which matches the listed size.

As instructed I copied the file into the add-ins directory, verified that again it is the same size file. Then from the remote desktop I went in to the add-ins and ran it. Again I get 1603 error code.

      Any other suggestions?

You cannot run it from that folder as its a protected folder, instead copy to c:\installs\

          Spoon,

I am lost. There is no directory called c:\installs\ on assetnas

These are your instructions on the web site
Download the Asset UPnP installer (AssetUPnP-WHS.msi), save this install to your PC, do not run it. Look in Computer >> Network for your Windows Home Server Machine, browse to the folder: \\[servername]\Software\Addins (if asked for a username and password, enter Administrator and the password used to setup the WHS machine). Copy and Paste the AssetUPnP-WHS.msi (or the registered install) install to the folder: \\[servername]\Software\Addins,

That is what I did . I can see that the MSI file is in that directory and that it is the right size and is all there.

I run it then from the desktop again as per the instructions and then it returns errors 1603.

          Help much appreciated

            Here is the error text

A network error occurred while attempting to read from the file c:\documents and settings\all users\application data\microsoft\windows home server\asset-install.msi

There are 2 ways of installing, you should first clear the way for the install by uninstalling the previous asset, you can do this thruough the control panel and add/remove program's.

If you have the install in \addons, then install through the windows home server connector, look on the available Adkins page and asset will be listed, so it can be run.

Doubly weird....Asset R3 does not show on the installed tab and therefore cannot be removed. Even though it is listed as an application and available. As a result, I can't remove R3.

Through remote desktop, start >>control panel

                  It will be there

Thank you much for the help. I had to learn what remote desktop is "duh".

One additional question, when browsing Artist/Album via control point, album art now shoes to the left where it is available. This is a change. Is there a way to change it so that album art only appears once you have selected Artist/Album.

                    Dynamic browsing is marvelous

You mean disable album art for say Genre? it is an option called 'Upstream Art' which can be disabled.
