Streaming FLACfrom NAS to Samsung Galaxy

    Dear Fellows

I just recently got hold of an new Galaxy phone and want to stream music from my Netgear NAS over WIFI to the phone. Searching on the web I found out that by installling Asset UPnP on a local PC could help me acheve this. This works fine for MP3 files but not for FLAC files, can anyone tell my if and how this can be done. The phone has no problems playing local stored FLAC files. And I can stream FLAC files on the NAS via Asset UPnP on my Sony PS3.

    best regards

It is possible that the device cannot stream FLAC. Try setting Asset to stream as LPCM, or WAVE, however I think you might get drop outs due to the wifi.

I've recently purchased a Samsung Galaxy tablet; the specification I saw before I purchased it said that it supported FLAC but it appears that this isn't true. If I try to stream an album from my Asset library (via PlugPlayer app on the tablet) it just skips through the tracks and if I try to upload a FLAC file to the tablet's onboard music library it tells me that its an unsupported file type. I've logged a support call with Samsung - I'll let you know what they say.
