Hi Spoon,
I just began ripping some classical Music, and I tried to understand
the behaviour of the multiple tags: "Artist" , "Album Artist" and "Soloists"
along with their Sort Values,
as they heve multiple entries in Classical Music most of the time.
I will give you an Example for my problems:
I used the ID Tag editor of dbpoweramp and filled in the following
values
Artist ....................... Gidon Kremer; Martha Argerich
ARTIST SORT ............ Kremer, Gidon; Argerich, Martha
album artist .............. Gidon Kremer; Martha Argerich
ALBUM ARTIST SORT .. Kremer, Gidon; Argerich, Martha
SOLOISTS ................ Gidon Kremer; Martha Argerich
SOLOISTSSORT ......... Kremer, Gidon; Argerich, Martha
These entries are actually creating the following tags
(I checked that with an file editor and with MP3tag software)
Artist=Gidon Kremer
Artist=Martha Argerich
ARTIST SORT=Kremer, Gidon; Argerich, Martha
ALBUMARTIST=Gidon Kremer
ALBUMARTIST=Martha Argerich
ALBUM ARTIST SORT=Kremer, Gidon; Argerich, Martha
SOLOISTS=Gidon KremerMartha Argerich
SOLOISTSSORT=Kremer, Gidon; Argerich, Martha
When I search for the albums in Asset (using Asset Control)
I get only one entry for the first artist:
"Gidon Kremer"
I get two entries (as should be) for Album Artist:
"Gidon Kremer"
"Martha Argerich"
And surprisingly I also get 2 entries for Soloists:
"Gidon Kremer"
"Martha Argerich"
Even as the sort tags look the same,
they don't work in any case.
As I would rather see my data along with the
VorbisComment Standard I was wondering:
Why are the Soloists written in 1 tag (not even with a Seperator)
-> I really wonder how Asset recognizes that this entry is
actually for 2 artists.
Why is only 1 artist shown in asset
Why doesn't any sort order seem to work ???
(I even tried to test the behavior of Asset when
editing the tags with Mp3tag according to the
VorbisComment Standard with one sort field per entry
or trying "Soloists" single entry on the "Artist" tag)
I look forward for some answers
and thx in advance
Oliviander
