    24 bit FLAC streaming problem

    Hi,

I am getting temporary drop-outs when using Asset to stream 88.2Khz 24bit flac files from a Tranquil Windows Home Server, eg every 20s or so. I'm using Assest v2 running as service, streaming to a Linn DS. I have killed indexing on the WHS, so CPU load is low all the time. Using process explorer, it looks like I/O reads are temporarily stopping for Asset.

I don't have this problem with lower bit-rate Flac files. The Flac files themselves play ok (& stream OK if use an Asset UpNp server on a different pc - but I don't want to have leave a PC on to serve the files which are stored on the WHS anyway ...).

    Any ideas?

    Thx

100 Mb network could handle 10's of such streams, so your network is not a limiter (unless you are using wireless or home plug).

It points to an issue on tranquil box.

The I/O reads includes disk I/O (network and disk I/O are not separated in the diagonostics; the likely problem is inability to read from the disk) : something bad is happening between the h/w, WHS s/w and the Asset UPnP s/w.
