Video Conversion Programs - a few choices

I know the dBpowerAMP family of programs does not deal with video conversions.

However questions concerning this have arisen at times.

I'd like to list here 3 programs that I use regularly and which petty much take care of my video conversion needs.

    All are free.

    1) Stoik's VideoPak from www.stoik.com - several other utility video programs available there for free or inexpensively.

    2) Windows Media Encoder - available at http://www.microsoft.com/windows/win...r/default.aspx

    3) Real Producer Basic 10 from http://forms.real.com/rnforms/produc...sic/index.html

For simplicity of use and multitude of conversion options, Stoik's VideoPak is my number 1 choice. This is the program that allowed me to convert a Windows Media Video (wmv) to compressed AVI or to mpg when others I tried could only handle uncompressed AVI (huge output files) and no mpg without another special licence. Thanks to VideoPak I was able to create the AVI's required to burn Video CD's using Nero (which only takes mpg or avi for that).

WME and RPB only convert to their respective proprietary formats: wmv and rm respectively.

WME is somewhat confusing to use whereas RPB is rather lacking in options (at least in the free version).
