dBpoweramp Renaissance is a revitalization of dAP (dBpoweramp Audio Player), re-built from the ground up with specific unique goals.

Designed to be the most efficient (in terms of memory footprint and resources used) audio player ever designed, featuring:

• Built in UPnP Renderer: Renaissance enables your PC as a UPnP playback device, it can stream audio from a NAS / web for a distributed system where multiple playback devices can scattered around the home and playback from a single audio store, controlled by hand-held remotes, such as the iPod touch. (Renaissance appears as a UPnP Renderer, with Linn DS extensions)
• Gapless playback: sample perfect decoding of mp3, Ogg and without saying any lossless format.
• Bit perfect playback using WASAPI to bypass Windows mixer.
• ReplayGain (not currently through UPnP)

µPlayer will run on Windows 7 / Vista / XP (also on Linux under Wine, or Apple MACs with Crossover MAC)

By default uPlayer can decode: Apple Lossless, FLAC, mp3, m4a, Wavpack, Wave, Ogg, Monkeys Audio, Musepack, AIFF

All codecs mentioned above can stream via UPnP (*** with the exception of Apple Lossless / m4a)

Usage

As a UPnP player, requires:

• UPnP Renderer: dBpoweramp Renaissance provides this, install on your PC, or a light-weight computer, such as ATOM, or ION based system, have a few scattered around the home,
• UPnP Server: Asset UPnP is ideal, catalogs and serves your audio, auto updating changes to the library: http://www.dbpoweramp.com/asset-upnp-dlna.htm
• UPnP Control: Many choices here, on the PC: Asset Control ( http://forum.dbpoweramp.com/showthread.php?t=20897 ), on the iPod Touch: 'PlugPlayer': http://www.plugplayer.com/, Songbook or Konductor.

To Run, simply open Windows explorer and browse to:

C:\Program Files\Illustrate\dBpoweramp

and run uPlayer.exe (not uPlayer-upnp.exe), now your computer is a UPnP renderer and can play audio tracks through the default sound card. If you have Windows 7 (or Vista SP1) and want bit perfect playback run as:

"C:\Program Files\Illustrate\dBpoweramp\uPlayer.exe" --zone="WASAPI:-1:dBpoweramp Renaissance"


Advanced usage

uPlayer is designed to be controlled from other applications, either by the command line or through a COM object:

DSP Effect ReplayGain (Apply)

Add ReplayGain abilities to uPlayer. To use, install DSP as instructed:

In the folder:

%appdata%\dbpoweramp\uPlayer\

create a file called:

default-dsps.bin

Drop it into notepad and add:

ReplayGain (Apply)
-mode="0"

Save the file as 'Unicode' encoding. That is it, start uPlayer and:

Any audio files with track gain are processed, files without trackgain have the trackgain calculated and the values are stored in an internal DB for next playback.

Customizations:

-mode="1" apply album gain (must be present in the id tags)
-activedb="-1.23" lower the volume for files with RG
-nonactivedb="-1.23" lower the volume for files without RG
-nocalc do not calculate RG when is missing

Internally has a 8 second buffer for streaming
Added {_KILLEXT_} to filenames, allows an internet stream without decoder extension to be specified, ie: http://www.server.com/url{_KILLEXT_}.mp3 where everyting after url is dropped
When have a url such as http://www.server.com/a.mp3?content=1&b=2 strips all after ? to find extension

Linn DS extensions added to UPnP, this allows a compatible control point to add tracks and allows the player to play the next track even when the control point is switched off. Also gapless playback over UPnP is possible.

When selecting dBpoweramp Renaissance, select the dBpoweramp Renaissance (Playlist) option if presented to use the extensions.
