Converting some RA and RM files.
1. Problem: RA or RM to WAV, sound seems to "step on itself" or over-lapped.
2. Problem: RA or RM to mp3, same problem as 1 above.
3. Using the AUX-Converter, works good to either wav or mp3.

Is the RA/RM Codec in testing or has it been finalized?

When you play the .ra or .rm files in real Player, what information do you get about them in View > Clip Properties > Clip Source ?

Can't tell you, Christina.
I dont have realplayer i have real-alternative and it beats real player by a mile.

I have winamp setup to run ra and rm files, works great.
but, since you ask for info - here is what is reported by winamp -

Don't know if that's a potential problem, but it may be advisable to actually have real player as well in order for dMC to convert real media files. Perhaps this is what's causing some problems for you.

However i'm not sure about the version of RealEncoder used - Win95???
I wonder if it is in fact supported by dMC's real media codec.

Anyway, here's what it says at Codec central:

Requires RealAudio v8 Installed [rp8-setup.exe, or from OldVersion]
I have been informed that Real Alternative 1.11 can be used instead of RealAudio v8.
When Converting the % bar will remain at 0%, the computer will 100% and conversion will take exactly the length of the audio file

Yes, i saw that "win95" thing. So i guess they are pretty old files to start with.

I just use the AUXillary converted instead, works fine that way. It just limits me
to doing 1 at a time. No biggie there. The batch file conversion was a bonus and
would have been useful but i can live without it for RA/RM files.

Thanks, Christina,

does anyone know if there is a new version of the Real Audio codec out that fixes some of the bugs of the previous version? such as making it convert to mp3 faster, or making the progress bar advance past 0%? thanks

It will convert at x1 speed, you could also try the directshow decoder (in the beta section) and install real alternative codecs also.
