I posted a thread about this a while back, but both the thread and my user account seem to have gone (I had to re-register).

Anyway, basically I was saying that dAP doesn't show the correct times for VBR MP3s and you were saying it should be reading the correct times from the ID3 tags. Well I've done a bit of experimentation and discovered that it shows the correct times for VBR MP3s with ID3 v1 tags, but not with ID3 v2 tags. So I thought I'd post to help you track down the problem.

(Using LAME to encode, and EAC was adding the v2 tags.)

Could you try dMC creating V2 Tagged vbr mp3 files, ta.

Seems to work OK. But I'd sooner use EAC to rip; it gives me more control over how to encode and what to put in the tag.

I'll just stick to using v1.1 tags for now.

Please email a smallish mp3 created file with the tag that does not work to dbpoweramp@dbpoweramp.com

difficult - the shorter the mp3 file, the less likely it is that the time will show up wrong. So this will have to wait until I have time to try a few to find one which shows the problem. How small does it need to be?

About 4MB would be fine.

Oh, that's easy then. I thought you meant a few hundred KB. I'm sending you a 1.78MB one now.

I've a feeling it will turn out that EAC isn't writing properly compliant ID3v2 tags.

Thanks I will take a look at it.

It's not just EAC. I have some that were encoded with CDex and LAME, using the r3mix setting, and the times are displayed incorrectly in dAP.
