Hi, I just converted a large batch of mp3s to m4bs, because they are audio books. During the conversion, my tags were lost. I used the tag editor to put them back (with the option in the right click menu), and I had no trouble inputting tag info, but the tags don't show up either in the folder where the files are kept or in iTunes when I play the tracks. The tags do show up when I check the file's properties, though. Can anyone suggest how to make the tag info show up in iTunes? Also, is there a way to preserve tag info when converting? Thanks!!

Re: tagging m4b files
Did you follow the instructions beside the m4b codecs in Codec Central:?Requires the above m4a codec to read / write ID Tags from .m4b files as well as to decode .m4b files.
Download the m4a codec and install it, then you should get tags with your files. -
Re: tagging m4b files
sorry, i should have mentioned above that i did do that. that's what gave me the convert and id tag options in my right click menu. but like i said, the tags don't appear in itunes or elsewhere, except the pop up info when the cursor hovers over the file.Originally posted by LtDataDid you follow the instructions beside the m4b codecs in Codec Central: ?

Re: tagging m4b files
Thanks! That worked, partially. The tag info doesn't show up in windows explorer, but it does when playing with iTunes. The strange thing is that when placing the cursor over the file, you can see all the tag info. The even stranger thing is that the track length in the tag is doubled when played with iTunes. For example, a track that is six minutes long according to the tag (and my watch) is twelve minutes according to iTunes. Any thoughts on that? Thanks again!!Originally posted by LtDatahttp://forum.dbpoweramp.com/showthread.php?t=13824

Re: tagging m4b files
ok, I think I found the solution.
"Force LC AAC" encoding worked for the files I tested.
just for the archive.
Cheers,
