Losing all id tags (even title, artist etc) when converting from FLAC to MP3

A new user, I ripped my CD collection to FLAC - but now want to also create mp3 versions of the files.

When I use the batch converter I find that all the track information associated with the files is lost on conversion. Any hints for how I can ensure that the id tags come over into the MP3 files also.....the "promo" stuff on the website for the batch converter seems to indicate that this should just happen.

Right click on a FLAC file >> Edit ID Tags, does it show ID Tags?

Thx for reply Spoon.

When I look at a FLAC file the ID Tags are there.

When I look at an MP3 created from the FLAC by the converter the ID Tags are not there.

Any help in diagnosing and fixing the problem would be greatly appreciated.

You have no DSP effects running during conversion?

Which version dBpoweramp do you have?

Do you have any security software?

No DSP effects

Version is R14.4

Only security software is MacAfee Internet Security

Run dBpoweramp Configuration, then on the Music converter tab, enable the very last debug option. Then convert one FLAC >> mp3, afterwards a log will show in notepad, copy and paste the text here please.

Checked the ID tags again for the mp3 file created and at the top it says "file contains no Id tags" and consistent with that, they're all blank.

The program actually wrote the tag, what is the exact filesize of this file now? is it 12806873 bytes, or 12666670 bytes?

Spoon it is the larger file, indicative of it having imported the tags.

Interestingly, just tried to play the file and it appears corrupted (just from using a couple of simple players like windows media player etc.) did not like it.

Must be something screwy with my settings, but I didn't really change anything from the default to any extent, just upped the file kbs rate from 160 to 384 and the destination - and made it convert at "slow" speed.

The file is a freeformat, not much will play those type of files as they are non-standard mp3s, choose 'Quality VBR' as the target.

So no way in dbpoweramp of ripping reliable mp3s higher than 240kbps??

(Mind you, just done it and it retains the id tag.....so I guess its the tradeoff, huh?)

You can select bit rate (CBR) and choose 320kbps, which is the maximum allowed for a standard mp3
