    converting music files

My granddaughter downloaded some music and wanted to play them on her portable CD player after burning them unto a CD-RW. It seems what she downloaded can only be played on the computer. What format does she need to play on a CD player? And is there a program to convert what she downloaded into a format that can be played on the CD? She downloaded MP3 files. Also, can other files, such as midi, ram and wav be converted?
I know nothing about music files, as I use my computer for other purposes. Any help would be appreciated.

You need to convert them to Wave - then write the CD as an Audio CD (not all CD players will read CDRW disks), you might be better with CD-Rs.
