    Help with Nokia 6230i

I have decided to download a converter as my nokia mp3 player does not accept WMA format and most of my songs are in that format.

I downloaded the convertor and some codec that changed WMA to Mp3 but i want AAC for my phone. When the song has been converted to Mp3 then transfered to my mobile the sound quality is rubbish!

    any idea whats going wrong?

    Many thanks Shawn

Wouldn't an mp3 on a cell phone sound like rubbish no matter what you do? (not trying to hurt anyone's feelings, I'm just asking for a clarification)

I'm not exactly sure what rubbish sounds like but some cell phones sound pretty decent for a tiny little speaker.

What settings did you use to make your mp3 files that ended up on your phone?

Darn, I was gonna ask that.
Speaking of settings, what IS the standard when transferring mp3 files to a phone?

well have i got the right codec? when i select convert to the only one i recognise is Mp3 (lame) the quality is set to high, i did change it to phone but still the sound on my phone is rubbish. the mp3's sound fine on my computer.

For some reason when i download songs Nokia pc suite will recognise thse failes and play them in nokia audio and then at the click of a button senf them straight to the phone. For other songs in WMA format it just doesnt want to know.

Oh wait, if the mp3 sounds good ONLY on your computer....

Then I don't think there's anything i can do in my power to help. A phone is a phone, I'm assuming that a phone will sound bad with any audio. I mean, it's a little gadget, with one speaker.....what more can you get?

Have you tried encoding mp3 at different bit rates? Try some of the lower ones 112, 96, 80Kbps just click on advanced options in the lame pop up and select none then you can choose the bit rate with the slider bar. you might wanna try alt preset insane which will give you a 320Kbps mp3.

Well if he 320 kpbs mp3, there'd be no more room on the nokia....I think.

Best thing may be to actually check one of the good files that sound good on the Nokia. Check the settings while it's on the PC, before it's been transferred to the phone.
