    R11-RC1 error?

Downloaded and installed R11RC1 of the dBConverter. Tried to convert an mp3
    song and received this msg.

Error whilst running DSP effect, lack of disk space? Temp file 'E:\NM2\DMC.Tmp'

Only DSP active was 24 bit (Did not see a 16 bit dither effect anywhere).
Other settings were CD Quality, Frequency = 44100, Bit Rate =192Kbps.

The music file is 1,383kb with a compression of 10 to 1, and i have plenty of
free space on my HD and no other files are present in the receiving folder.

If needed, i post the Tag data....

    thanks,

    Compression 10:1 doesn't seem right for stereo, cd-quality mp3 @ 192kbps - it should say 7:1 .

Do you need any DSP effects? You can just clear them all befoer conversions. And I can't seem to find any DSP effect in PowerPak such as the one you mention in dMC

        Re: R11-RC1 error?

The error occurs with any song not just that one. Its just a way to show the error.
That song was converted with a previous version of dBpowerconverter.

So it was either a .wav, wma, .ra, .rm format, prior to mp3 conversion using the
release 10.5a(?) of the dBpowerconverter or the AUX.

Granted the bitrate is on the low side thats why i'm trying to convert to 192.
I've tried a couple other mp3 songs and get the same error condition.....

          Re: R11-RC1 error?

Sorry, i forgot to add the DSP info.

DSP Effects i show on the right side of the window
          Add Silence
          Add Tag Element
          Channel Move
          DC Offset
          Eden Swap
          Invert
          Maximum Length
          Minimum Length
          Music Removal
          Remove Silence
          Remove Tag Element
          Reverse
          Sound Grabber
          Trim
          Voice Removal (Karaoke)
          Volume Fade
          Volume Normalize
          Volume Quieten
          Write Silence

On the left side of window is
          24 Bit

The "Selected DSP Settings" box is empty.
The checkbox "Clear Active DSP Effects After Conversion is un-checked.
No sign of a "16 bit dither".

I don't know - it could be my sound card.
Anyway, soon as i removed the 24 bit from the active side, i was able to
            convert successfully.

ChristinaS, the compression is now 7 to 1 (13%).

            thanks,
Note to Self: Check sound card capabilities!

              Re: R11-RC1 error?

Guess its time to upgrade my sound card. All i can find is 8/16 bit. No
              reference to 24 bit.

My bad. Was asking my sys to do something it couldn't do (yet).

Aha! So the 24-bit came from somewhere else, as I don't even have it anywhere to add if I wanted to

The file you originally had actually had an average bit rate of 65 kbps, mono.

Now since you converted to 192 kbps stereo mp3, you're getting more of the, shall we say, low quality sound but you're hearing it in stereo :smile2:

Few problems here, can anyone else see 16 bit dither with RC1?

                  what is drive E?

                    Re: R11-RC1 error?

The 24 Bit came from the latest version (R11-RC1).
True, its from the web and is low quality.
Sound a lot better in stereo tho.

It may not be the best sound but it sounds good to this ole country boy.
Or, i could say, it beats an old 5 string flat top box.

i was a little confused when reading about it. i thought it was in the DSP effect list? i couldn't find it.

I think I finally got it! You wanted to convert to 24-bit mp3 from an old mono 65kbps mp3? I think there's no such thing as a 24-bit mp3.

What probably sounds better to you is the stereo actually, not the 192kbps, unless you also did some audio enhancing along the way. But, if it makes you happy... :smile2:
