Best way to extract audio from video AND trim silence of variable length ?

I want to extract audio (to aac) fom mp4 video AND trim silence of variable length at the beginning/end without loss of audio quality.
I have dBpoweramp Music Converter and Video Converter.
Waht's the best way to do that, please?

mp4 video will likely contain AAC audio, it is lossy and any trimming of silence would have to decode and re-encode it.
