ID Tag Editor Whitespace

In some purchased tracks certain tags appear to have whitespace that is difficult to remove with the editor. For instance, in one track the Artists tag contained linefeeds, and I was eventually able to get them out, but I couldn't establish a pattern of inputting/deleting text that would remove them consistently. If the whitespace is not removed the metadata will not display properly in my player. The tooltip in Windows File Explorer reflects the whitespace as well.

Any ideas?

Press CTRL + A to select the whole tag, press delete to remove all the text and retype the artist name.

A slight variation on the above: Highlight the artist name, copy it using by pressing Ctrl-C, press Ctrl-A to select the whole tag and then press Ctrl-V to overwrite it with the artist. Saves some keystrokes and avoids typos.

The semi-colon seems to become a tab or several spaces when formatting your tooltip. Here is what I have in the album tag:

Strauss: Don Juan, Op. 20; Death And Transfiguration, Op. 24; Till Eulenspiegel's Merry Pranks, Op. 28

Issue confirmed, next R16.3 beta will fix. Until then you can replace ; with :

Is it just an issue with the formatting the tooltip, or is it in the save to the tag?

It was writing to the tag wrong, new beta has fixed.

Then this is no simple matter for me. I have thousands of files involved, and using colon is not an option. Looks like it's writing a carriage return for the semicolon.

- Is it as simple as reading every file and replacing \r with ";" since I never have returns in my tags?

- When can I get the fix?

- Do you know if it was always doing this (to know how far back I need to run)

The fix is in R16.3 beta (see testing section of this forum). It is hard to tell when this issue occurred.

Looks like this started happening in 16.2.

Problem persists in 16.3 beta. Please advise.

Take a file, right click >> Edit id tag

Change the album to: 123; abc

Click ok, then hold mouse over file, it shows white spaces?

The problem still exists in 16.3 beta. I have a program that examines the data. The tooltip can be misleading if it doesn't refresh.
