    AAC/M4A encoder not recognized in 16.2

    Hi everyone.

    I am trying to convert mp3s to m4a although I keep installing the codec from dbpoweramp website. The codec it's just not "recognized" ?

    You are installing to the same location that dBpoweramp is installed?

      Yes I am. Actually I can see the new .dll's in the Encoders Folder but for some reason it's just not "acknowledging" them.
      Clueless now.
      Tried uninstalling and installing about 5 times.

        I've tried AAC/M4A and it works just fine for me, but I have a problem with MP3 (Helix) not being recognized though it's installed properly as far as I can tell.

        I know it says it's only 32Bit and I am running on Win7 64Bit so is that the problem for it not showing up? Ofcourse I can still use good old Lame for MP3, but I really enoyed the Helix' speed.

          Where do you have dBpoweramp installed to? the exact path please.

          @mv24280 - see:

          The 64 bit release of dBpoweramp will only work correctly with 64 bit codecs. In Codec Central the codecs which are indicated as 32 bit only will not work with the 64 bit version of dBpoweramp. CD Writer CD Writer cannot be compiled to 64 bit, it is 32 bit only.

              For some reason you have the 32 bit version installed, uninstall the m4a codec and follow the instructions here:

              The 64 bit release of dBpoweramp will only work correctly with 64 bit codecs. In Codec Central the codecs which are indicated as 32 bit only will not work with the 64 bit version of dBpoweramp. CD Writer CD Writer cannot be compiled to 64 bit, it is 32 bit only.

              about to hold the right shift key whilst installing the m4a encoder to force the 32 bit version.

                Hi. Thanks for reply.
                It does say 64 bit when I open it.

                Catch 22?!

                  If you hold the right shift key whilst double click the install, it forces the 32 bit installer.
