    Downsampling WAV Files

    Hi,

I've been using dBpoweramp for ripping my CD's, but I'm new to using the dBpoweramp music converter, I want to downsample a 2 Channel WAV 24/96 high res file to a 2 Channel WAV 16/44.1 at the highest audio quality to make an audio cd copy of my high res file. Method A: I leave encoding at WAV and choose bit depth 16 bit, and sample rate to 44.1, and leave channels as source.

But I'm confused because I can also choose method B: leave Encoding at WAV, bit depth 16, then choose to leave sample rate as source, and channels as source, but then I choose to add Resample in DSP effects and set to resample to frequency of 44100 in resample settings, as this says that it uses the highest quality SSRC Resampler.

Which is the best method from above.

    Thank you,
    Paul.

Use the dsp effects, it ensures ssrc is used with all encoders.

        Just one last question.

        I leave Encoding at WAV
        bit depth 16
        leave sample rate as source
        channels as source
Add Resample in DSP effects, set to resample to frequency of 44100, using the SSRC Resampler.

In batch converter with the above settings, is it alright to leave the dsp to resample with the SSRC Resampler set at 44100, when converting my 24/44.1 hi-res files to cd qualty, i.e will the SSRC Resampler already know these files are 44100, and just drop the bit depth from 24 bits to 16 bits only, leaving the sample frequency alone, or do I have to remove the dsp SSRC Resampler for these 24/44.1 files.

The reason I'm asking is because some of my Hi-res files are 24/44.1, while the rest are a mix of 24/96 and 24/192.

        Thanks again.

        Best wishes,
        Paul.

If the source is already 44KHz then no frequency processing is done.

I thought so, but just wanted to make sure.

Thanks again spoon, also for your audio guides, very helpful.

            Best wishes,
            Paul.
