Duplicate UpnP servers shown on Stream Magic 6

Hi there,

I am running Illustrate as a music server, wirelessly, from my desktop PC, streaming to a StreamMagic 6 media player.

I am delighted with the Illustrate software, but there is one odd thing which may be down to the set up on my PC.

When I select the ‘UPnP Servers’ option from the StreamMagic, I am always presented with a duplicate option on the display.

One option shows all of the tracks on my PC, ordered appropriately by Illustrate.

The other option just presents me with a single track, the single 96KHz 24 bit HD track, stored on my PC.

Can anyone suggest a reason why this may happen?

On the SM6 display appears 'Asset UPnP: JOHN-PC'

JOHN-PC is the name of my Windows 8.1 profile

Uninstall Asset, then see how many servers display, if 1 still then you have 2 assets installed to different locations.

I tried this over the weekend and confirmed that no UpnP servers were visible after I uninstalled Asset.

I then reinstalled Asset, but after a few restarts the problem still remains.

It is not a massive issue and I can locate to correct version on my StreamMagic display fairly easily, but I am still curious as to what might be causing the problem.

That is only one option. You mentioned duplicate options. Are you seeing 'Asset UPnP: JOHN-PC' listed twice?

To check whether you have a problem with the Asset UPnP install, you could try installing Asset Control on the desktop PC and see if you get duplicate servers listed in Asset Control.

Also, on the desktop PC, look under Network. Do you see 'Asset UPnP: JOHN-PC' and if so how many are listed.

Looks like a problem with the desktop PC and the Asset UPnP installation. As Spoon alluded to earlier, it looks like you have 2 Asset UPnP installs on the desktop PC.

What OS are you running?

Right-Click the Taskbar and select Task Manager from the pop-up window. Under Background processes, how many uMediaLibrary (32 bit) entries do you see?

Furthermore, if you right click on each uMediaLibray (32 bit) entry and select properties, you will see, on the Properties window General tab, the location of the uMediaLibrary.exe.

Please post the location for each entry, e.g. C:\Program Files (x86)\Illustrate\dBpoweramp

Can you provide a screenshot showing the 4 uMediaLibrary instances in the Task Manager?

... and if you uninstall Asset UPnP and reboot, what do you then see in the Task Manager?

I too reported this problem a while ago, with both instances running from the same location on Win 7x64:
