CD Ripper is crashing my Windows 7 Computer

I purchased the Family Pack of CD Ripper and the program works great on my Vista computer. I then downloaded and installed CD Ripper on my Windows 7 64 bit (i5) computer and the program crashes the computer as soon as I launch it. When I first installed CD Ripper, I was able to run it and started setting the options to be the same as on my Vista machine. The last thing I did was set the FLAC encoding from Lossless Level 5 to Lossless Level 0. As soon as I did this the program stopped responding and I could not even use Task Manager to end the program. I had to shutdown the computer.

I restarted the computer and all applications are working properly wothout incident, except for CD Ripper. Now, whenever I launch CD Ripper it crahes the computer and forces a restart. I decided to uninstall the program.

Does anyone have any experience with this problem?

I have installed CD ripper on both 32 bit and 64 bit versions of Windows 7 and have never experienced this problem.

I'm sure that's true, but I don't know what's different, so I was hoping for someone who might know of an issue under certain circumstances.

Thanks, but that did not work.

I turned off my virus protection, but it's the same protection that I use on my Vista machine where everything works fine.

I reinstalled CD Ripper, but this time I was unable to to change the option settings because as soon as the program launches it crashes my computer. The Windows message that I receive is, "A problem has been detected and Windows has had to shutdown to prevent damage to your computer." This appears to be a Windows generated message for a problem relating to CD Ripper, so not some other program.

Try starting CD Ripper with no CD discs in any drives, does it load?

Thanks Spoon, but nothing in CD drive.

This is almost a brand new laptop, so besides a simple database program there are no other add-on programs installed except CDRipper. As I mentioned, this only happens when CDRipper launches.

            1. I launch CD Ripper and the main screen appears for about two seconds.
            2. I then get the Blue Screen of Death.
            3. There is a message that "Driver IRQL not less or equal."
            4. This is only happening with CDRipper.

              PROBLEM SOLVED!!!

              Thanks, for everyone's help.

I Googled the Driver IRQL not less or equal message, and found a recommendation to install a driver update program because the message may mean that I have a bad or missing driver. I did this and it fixed my problem with CDRipper.

Out of interest, which driver was updated?

Hunter, when does it crash for you? if you click eject? or whilst ripping?

                      See:

There is a current issue where if CD Ripper tries to eject the CD and the Intel Storage Matrix Drivers / Intel Rapid Storage Technology Driver are inplace on a system, it will blue screen of death Windows. This thread is dedicated to reproducing this issue and hopefully correcting the issue. We have created a simple test

After fighting with BSODs for a day, I found that they are triggered on my system (Windows 7, 64-bit) by choosing "Prevent auto-run on all CD drives".

Bombus, are you using Intels Storage Matrix Drivers?

You have me at the limit of my knowledge, but I believe the answer is no. I'm using the Intel Rapid Storage Technology driver. I believe the following is related to your line of questioning: your LoaderUnloader.exe program ejects a CD, rather than causing a BSOD.

My brother had the same problem with his laptop running windows 7. Windows crashes when Dbpoweramp finishes ripping a cd or crashes starting to rip a cd. We uninstall Dbpoweramp then reinstall it and finally found out that we have to uncheck "eject after rip" and "prevent auto-run on all drives" and it solve the problem. We have tried with just one or the other being checked and windows crashes. So we have to leave both uncheck to make it work. Hope this help someone with the same problem. (might be a problem on just laptop as drawer does't close or open? by itself)
