    24bit Flac CD Ripping

    I have tried to rip my collection of 24bit CD'S to Flac but they are ripping as 16bit files. Can anybody help?

    Stevie - there is no such thing as a 24bit CD.
    You most likely are mistaken by some label on the CD saying "24bit master" or so - it is just pure advertisment to say, that the original recording has been done in 24bit.
    CD specs say: 44.1 kHz sampling frequency, 16 Bit bitdepth - that's why from the masters in the recording studio, they have to downsample that to the CD-quality 44.1/16, and therefor, you will rip the CDs to 44.1/16.

    There's one exception, though: HDCD. With a little trick, they can get 20 bits on the CD. If you add the HDCD "utility" (bottom center on the Ripper, DSP, add DSP effect -> HDCD) and your CD has this enhanced format, dbpoweramp will recognize this and convert it to 44.1/24bit FLAC. "Normal" CDs will pass untouched as 44.1/16.
