    "Encoded by" switches up

    I noticed that iTunes displayed a disparity in this field when using Nero AAC. All of the "Chase This Light" album says dBpoweramp Reference 14 instead of Nero AAC 1.5.4 like all the other files that I've checked that were done at the same time yesterday (6000+).

    Why did this occur?

    Both of these files were converted from ALAC files. I checked, and the file for Disintegration lacked a Encoded By tag, and the Big Casino had a 'iTunes 7.4.something' in its Encoded By tag.

      It could be if the tag is not previously present it is filled in?

        Yeah after looking at a few more examples,

        1. No tag --> AAC Encoder --> "Nero AAC codec / 1.5.4.0"
        2. Tag present --> AAC Encoder --> "dBpoweramp Release 14"

        was this by design?
