    Poor AMG/Musicbrainz metadata "genre" classification

    Hi all

I have started ripping my CD collection (~400 CD) with CD Ripper, but discovered that after 100 ripped CD that almost all of them are classified under genre "Rock".

Which I can't believe nor accept, if you consider that I ripped disks from The Allman Brothers Band, Lucia Dalla (Italian), Mariah Carey, Cristopher Cross, Supertramp, Dream Theater, Deep Purple, Iron Maiden... all are just "Rock".

    So my questions are:

    1) is this normal (for comparison, and old CD ripper sw from Creative, which uses another db, has classified the same disks in much more different genres, i.e. Progressivo Rock, Pop, Country Rock...)?
    2) given this is expected behaviour, is there a way to replace the "genre" tag with the first (note: only the first) of the "style" tags?

    THanks for any suggestions!

Yes, it's normal, which is why everyone has a favorite tagger to touch everything up in case they forget while they are ripping.

And never import the song ratings, which I find to be downright obscene.
