Which codec for best base reproduction???

I'm a disc jockey and base is very important for a dance crowd. I have R11.5 and I rip everything to 320 mp3. Is there another codec staying 500 bitrate or less, say like ogg that will give better base production. I don't want to get into flac or monkeys audio that takes up a lot more space than an mp3 320. Will ogg at 500 bitrate give better base reroduction than mp3 320. Thanks.

At 500, the best encoder would be wavpack lossy. A little less than twice the space required for 320 MP3, but in just about all situations will be completely transparent, and at about half the space required for lossless.

I would never recommend a transform encoder using bitrates that high. There's just no more real benefit in using OGG at 500 than there is at 192.
