    Wma 9

As a new user (registered), I was using Windows Media Play 9 (Beta). I was converting (I thought) to WMA 8, using db poweramp.) I had downloaded the WMA 8 Codec. After downloading the new 9 codec, I checked my dbpoweramp files in wma format and all showed Windows 9. The older files I had (before beta and poweramp showed 7.01.
My question is did poweramp use the 9 Beta from Windows media player or am I really showing my stupidity?

No stupidity here, all WMA files are encoded with the highest system codecs, so when MS release WMA10, the wma9 encoder will use it automatically, but it will not use any extra features of it.
