CDs ripped to lossless wma format. Everything sounds just great.
When I later convert those files to wave for burning a "party" disk, the audio sounds louder and some distortion can be heard.
What could cause this?

Not Converting Files
When I open the file, I select the audio I want to convert, but when the converter comes up, it says at the top, "Coverting 0 Files to..." When I click convert anyway, nothing happens.
What is going on? How do I fix it?
