Problems ripping to MP3 Lame

I was on the older version of the cd ripper, I hadn't used it for a while and when I tried today it wouldn't let me rip to MP3 (LAME) it kept saying error. I upgraded but still have the same problem. It will let me rip the same CD to FLAC without a problem. Does anybody know how...

When I want to convert a Flac or Wav file to MP3, I see there are two options offered and it confuses me with all respect.

The first is:

Encoding Wave
Bullet Wave-Mp3

and second:

Encoding mp3 (Lame)...
