Alac 24 / 96 to 16 / 44.1

I have some alac 24 bit 96khz songs which I want to downsample for playing on my ipod. Would be great if someone could help with how to get the settings right.

If I convert to AIFF 16/44.1 and try to sync with foobar to my ipod I get an error message that I can't sync file.

I'm just (re)setting up dBpoweramp R14.2 on a new computer.
I rip my cds to FLAC then convert to m4a (AAC) using Batch Converter for my 160GB iPod Classic (bought in 2009?)
and my wife's iPod Nano (from 2010).

How do I rip an Audiobook CD to play on my iPod. I ripped it to Mpeg4 Audio but when I imported it into iTunes it went into my Music folder not my Book folder, so thererfore it won't go into my book folder on my iPod only my music folder which is no good. I converted some flac files to ALAC at 24/88 but my IPOD Classic 7th Gen can't sample at that high a rate. It samples at 44kHz just fine though. What do I do with my 24/88 files??

I've just bought an iPod Nano, and I love the form-factor. I am a little confused though, how to integrate iTunes with my existing record collections. Here's what I want to do:
