    Sticky: Re: Asset UPnP R7

    Hi GBrown! Were you using Mp3tag from scratch, not just to make the edit? Mp3tag writes TPE2 for AlbumArtist, and that as well as Album Artist works in R7.

    I'm interested cause I have a somewhat...

    Re: Separating albums and singles in Asset

    Yes it is. Updating or adding tags is easy, you only need a tag editor. PerfectTUNES from dBpoweramp is a good choice, and you have some other taggers here:...

    Re: Separating albums and singles in Asset

    There is Additional > Browse by folders in Asset to browse on the disk.

    In my library though, the singles are not in one place on the hard disk, but in subfolders of the artists.

    So to easily...

    Re: Compilations Option Questions

    I do as garym except that I tag ALBUM ARTIST on all my albums. There is no de facto standard here, and there are simplistic or just crap players out there which don't support much. But I think there...

    Re: Upstream Art how too?

    So Asset prefers to strip the filenames. That leads me to ask:

    In a big library, would Asset load/scan faster if the artist art files were prepared with stripped filenames to begin with?

    Estimated release date for Asset R7 linux?

    Is there an approximate release date for Asset R7 linux, even a beta version?

    I recommended Asset for a friend but unlike me, he is a linux user, and he needs 10+ tag values so he won't try the...

    Re: Asset Year Ascending vs Descending

    You can tag e.g. "ALBUM SORT=1969 - Abbey Road" and then select your preferred handling of sorting tags in the settings.

    Then when you browse by ALBUM they will be sorted chronologically.

    Re: Upstream Art how too?

    That is not correct, in Windows it's case-insensitive, with or without spaces. All of these works:

    "Bob Dylan.png", "bob dylan.png", "BobDylan.png" and "bobdylan.png".

    Re: Upstream Art how too?

    It's in the dBpoweramp settings (windows at least), in my case:

    C:\Documents and Settings\vilsen\Application Data\dBpoweramp\uMediaLibrary\AssetUserUpstreamImages

    Re: Tags, Tags, and more Tags ...

    Nothing, it's a great feature in foobar. I just suggested an alternative that would work in any player if so required.

    Re: Tags, Tags, and more Tags ...

    Hello monsterjazzlick. Alternatively you could backup ARTIST SORT to BACKUP ARTIST SORT and then delete ARTIST SORT.

    Re: Does Asset read the TBPM field?

    It turns out that you need to index TEMPO if you want Asset to read the TBPM field in mp3's... Indexing BPM does not work for mp3, but is needed for FLAC.

    The workaround, since you obviously want...

    Re: Does Asset read the TBPM field?

    Any input on this?

    I have tried Asset R6 and R7, ID3v2.3 and ID3v2.4, different tagging software - nothing works.

    FLAC no problem.

    Does Asset read the TBPM field?

    I'm trying to index BPM in Asset and it works with FLAC but not mp3.

    It seems that the TBPM field for ID3 tags is not supported?

    Re: Blending genres - how to do?

    My suggestion would be to update your tags for the desired outcome.

    You could use multiples:
    GENRE=Rock; Hard Rock

    Alternatively, you could implement STYLE:
    GENRE=Rock
    STYLE=Hard Rock

    Re: Genre versus Style tags, best practices?

    There's no definitive standard, but this should give you a start:

    https://www.allmusic.com/genres (select a genre and scroll to the bottom for associated subgenres/styles)...

    Lossy png (artist art) in Asset

    I've got artist art (not album art) in the png format which is too big, so I'm considering to do a lossy compression of those files. From what I understand this makes the files non-standard, since...

    Re: Recommendations for a digital audio player

    RAM means Random-Access-Memory, a volatile memory that is emptied at power off, and thus only used by the system.

    ROM means Read-Only-Memory but this term has loosened up because of development...
