Converted videos show a black screen thumbnail

So I am recording videos using my DSLR Nikon D3500 Camera which records them in .MOV format.

When I converted them to MP4 using dBpoweramp Video Converter, they played just fine on my computer but when I copied them to my phone and then uploaded them to Instagram, they didn't show the first part of the video as a thumbnail as usual but instead they were showing a black/blank screen.

I tried a few videos to ensure it wasn't just that one video and they all have the black thumbnail.

Then I tried to convert those same videos using Nero Recode 2019 and they appear just fine with the thumbnail when uploaded to Instagram.

Can someone from support look into this please?

    You are encoding as h264?

We are investigating this issue, but for now if you can try a test:

        browse to 'C:\Program Files\dBpowerampVideo\encoder\MP4 (H264)'

        and edit encoder.txt

        Look for the line:

        [clistring]
        -f mp4 -c:v libx264

        and change to:

        [clistring]
        -f mp4 -c:v libx264 -pix_fmt yuv420p

Let me know please if this fixes the issue (reencode one file to MP4 (H264) set to reencode the video).

Sorry I just saw your message. I noticed there is a new version R1.7 now. I will try that again and see if the issue is still there.

You would have to include the Pixel Format DSP set to yuv420p

I converted a video using the MP4 (nVIDIA H264) profile and this time the thumbnail appeared just fine in Instagram just like any other video I guess whatever issue was there has been fixed in R1.7

Now one more thing which I noticed today which is a bit puzzling is the quality slider, it says if I slide it all the way to the right it's high quality and all the way to the left it's low quality but when I slide it all the way to the right why is it showing as 0 for the quality rather than 100 or 100%? This is confusing

It is just how that encoder expresses quality, it would not translate well to a % (100% implies that nothing is lost) and 50% implies that 50% is lost.
