If you disable the skip finished option, so when it finishes you can select the view current error and info option to see if anything is listed there.

I've tried that. I've given up the ghost now, and taken the more technical route of deleting any references to dbPoweramp and Illustrate in my registry, and can now do the conversion.

On a side note, why does the 'loudspeaker' icon in the taskbar change from green to red part way through converting a batch, though no error messages are shown, and the conversion seems to work without a problem?

I use Kaspersky Total Security, but I've attempted to convert with it switched off already.

    1) I can convert to any other format without errors.

    2) The flac files are CD quality. As a test I have also just tried to convert a 24 bit 196kHz flac to mp3, which has also failed.

You are converting the flac file which is cd quality?

    Yes, should be:

    'C:\Test\6 PM-01-Illusion.flac' To 'C:\Test\6 PM-01-Illusion.mp3'

    Is 6 PM-01-Illusion.fmp3 a typo (i.e. the .fmp3 file extension)?

Turn off any anti-virus/security software and assuming you are running Windows, copy a single flac file and place it a folder called Test on your C: drive.

Using this file, try converting to: Test Conversion and then try converting to: mp3 (Output Location: Original Folder) and post the exact error message(s).

Sudden problem with converting flac to MP3

I have been using dbpoweramp R14 for 3 years now, both to rip CDs to flac and also convert flac to mp3 for use in car audio. I have had no issues to date, but now I am suddenly unable to convert to mp3, I get the message "error writing audio data to stdin pipe". This happens whether I click on the flac and use the right menu to convert, or if I use batch convert. It is only mp3 causing the problem; all other conversions work. I have tried different types of conversion, VBR or fixed, different quality, different file paths, single or multiple files and just about every other variable I can think of.

I have also uninstalled and reinstalled the dbpoweramp software.

    Any thoughts?
