help on aac album art with itunes

hi, i am keeping my colletion in flac with album art. how can i get this imported into itunes with the album art please?

the aac convert does not support album art. also turning to wma with album art and then importing into itunes does not preserve the album art (why on earth did apple leave this out??).

so far all i can do is manually add the album art in itunes but with a big collection constantly being added to that is a real pain.

any ideas on ways to do this or programs to do it? think this is a pretty important feature.

is it a difficult task? i mean is the art embedded into the file or kept in some strange apple only knows structre?
