As you may or may not know, the new version of iTunes 7.0 now supports gapless playback. Unfortunately, as of right now, it doesn't read the Lame Header information correctly and places a slight gap between the songs.
If I use the -t lame command to remove the lame tag, it plays perfectly on the iPod. Only problem is I have over 200G of lame 3.96 stored and don't want to reconvert without lame tags. Additionally, I don't want to encode my future collection without the lame header tags as I'm sure apple will work out the problem someday. (It already works on the new Nano)
What I do want to do is use some utility to take my existing collection of lame encoded mp3s and remove the lame headers / lame tags before I load them onto the iPod. That way I get the best of both worlds; I keep the great Lame encoded information and it will play gaplessly on the iPod.
Thanks for any help because it's been driving me nuts trying to find out information on this issue...
